The son of Ijuin Tadakimi, he fought alongside Shimazu Tadayoshi and Shimazu Takahisa in battles for the Shimazu clan succession. Tadaaki took part in the 1539 battle of Murasakibaru, as well as battles against the Honda and Ichiki clans, and aided Shimazu Yoshihisa in the 1554 siege of Iwatsurugi.
